Need a Dental Crown? Now Is the Time to Act!

Has your dentist informed you that you need a dental crown, or do you have a temporary crown that should be replaced with a permanent restoration? Perhaps you have been reluctant to move forward with treatment due to concerns about cost. The reality is, though, that acting sooner rather than later could actually help you save money! This blog post discusses why you should get your crown before the end of the year.

Dental Insurance Benefits Will Expire Soon

Dental insurance benefits usually work on a calendar-year basis. That is to say, they reset every January 1. Any unused benefits do not roll over from year to year. Failure to receive timely treatment could allow you to lose out on hundreds of dollars of insurance coverage! For example, if your annual insurance maximum is $1,500, and you have only used $300, you could be letting a whopping $1,200 go to waste.

Getting started with your crown treatment now can allow you to put your insurance benefits to work and allow you to save next year’s benefits just in case you need any further restorative work done on your smile.

Delaying Treatment Can Cost More

Typically, teeth only need dental crowns if they have suffered significant damage or are very weak. Without a crown to protect them, their condition could easily worsen. If you have such a tooth, failing to get a restoration for it may lead to the need for a tooth extraction.

Tooth extractions are not too expensive on their own. However, replacing a lost tooth can cost thousands of dollars. It is more economical to save the tooth you already have.

It Is Not Just About Money

Getting a crown before the end of the year may be good for your wallet, but the benefits you may experience go even beyond finances. Some additional advantages that you might enjoy include:

  • Reduced dental pain and sensitivity.
  • A more comfortable bite.
  • An improved ability to eat your favorite foods.
  • Enhanced confidence in your smile (high-quality crowns can look incredibly lifelike).

2024 will be over before you know it! You can get the greatest value out of your insurance policy by scheduling necessary treatment before the year ends.
